Samsung Electro-Mechanics recently announced that it has successfully developed multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) suitable for 16-volt high-voltage configuration vehicles.
IT Home Note: MLCC is a component that controls constant current in electronic product circuits. It is mostly used in smartphones, personal computers, home appliances, 5G equipment and Internet of Things equipment. With the introduction of various advanced technologies, the use of MLCCs in automobiles has also surged.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics explained that it has miniaturized the key raw material dielectric ceramic powder to the nanoscale level and achieved high capacity by minimizing the voids within the dielectric, thus enabling operation at high voltages.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics demonstrated two models, one is the 0603 size (width 0.6 mm, height 0.3 mm) that supports 100 nanofarad (nF) capacity, and the other is the 1608 size (width 1.6) that supports 4.7 microfarad (uF) capacity mm, height 0.8 mm).
It is suitable for the core device gateway module of autonomous driving. The automotive gateway is a core system used to integrate and manage ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) functions in the car and securely transmit data.
